Jordan Ayew Eyes Silverware Dream with Black Stars

Jordan Ayew Eyes Silverware Dream with Black Stars——Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has expressed his desire to win a trophy with the senior national team.

Having won the last trophy in 1982, the Black Stars for the past decades have struggled to win a major trophy despite playing in the 1992, 2010 and 2015 AFCON finals.

After suffering a back-to-back AFCON group phase elimination in Cameroon and Ivory Coast, respectively, the Black Stars failed to secure a ticket for the 2025 AFCON tournament, which will be hosted in Morocco later this year.

Despite the heartbreak, criticisms, Ayew led the team to record back-to-back wins against Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers during the Matchday 5 and 6 games.

Speaking in an interview, the Leicester City striker stated his commitment to working hard and staying patient, hopeful that his perseverance will one day be rewarded with silverware.

“I’ve been waiting for a national team trophy for many years. I have to keep on working and pushing, and if it comes, it comes,” he said.

The wins during the March international break have propelled the Black Stars to the top of Group I with 15 points.
