Osei Assibey Antwi, former Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), has reportedly been detained by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) under controversial circumstances. Allegations suggest he has been denied both medical care and access to legal representation, raising concerns about due process and human rights violations
Former National Service Scheme (NSS) Director, Osei Assibey Antwi, has been in the custody of the National Investigative Bureau (NIB) since Thursday after voluntarily honoring their invitation.
According to a close family source, he was brought to his residence in Accra today, March 22, 2025, at approximately 6:00 PM by four men to conduct a search of his home.
Witnesses reported that he was wearing the same light-toned coffee brown kaftan he had on when he reported to the NIB office, now visibly stained with blood below the knee.
Sources told Accra Street Journal that Hon. Osei Assibey appeared pale and weak, allegedly due to being denied access to his prescribed medications. Additionally, his family and legal representatives have reportedly been prevented from seeing him.
It remains unclear as to the reason for his detention as the time of filing this report.
