As part of implementing grassroot football as a pillar in the Women’s Football Strategy, the Technical Directorate of the Ghana football Association in collaboration with Eastern Regional Football, has introduced Football 4 Girls project at Akawadum in the New Juaben North Municipal.
This is a vital part of the Women’s Football Strategy, aimed at encouraging and empowering girls aged 5 to 12 years to engage in football, fostering both talent and love for the game.
Six schools in the New Juaben North Municipality—Akwadum M/A Primary School, Akwadum Methodist School, Akwadum Islamic School, Akwadum R/C School, Brong Densuso M/A, and Akwadum Christian Village—participated in this event.
Madam Louisa Amanor, the Chairperson of the Women’s Committee, inspired the girls and addressed common misconceptions about girls playing football and emphasized the importance of enjoying the sport.
Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA), Lindford Asamoah, praised the Football Association for this important initiative, reaffirming the Association’s commitment to nurturing young talents and promoting grassroots football in Ghana. He stressed that the project seeks to empower young girls and promote women’s football by harnessing the power of sports to inspire change.
The event was graced by other notable dignitaries, including Rev. Samuel Kotoka (Vice Chairman), Michael George Blake (C.E.O of Rootz Sistaz FC), Ernest Kwame Asante, as well as head teachers and teachers from the participating schools.
